God's promise during finals

I have been very stressed lately with school and finals.
So yesterday when Korey looked out the window and said "The sky looks really weird. I'm going to go outside and see what's going on," I thought, "I really don't have time for this."

Of course, when he said, "Get out here! There is a huge rainbow!"

it turned out that I had a little more time than I thought.

There's always time for rainbows.

"I have set My rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life."

Study Break!

Today I took a little study break with my friend Destiny to make cake pops. What are cake pops you may ask? Well, go right on over to bakerella's blog because she is the Michaelangelo of cake pops and can tell you all about them. We did our best and more than a few of them turned out a little off, but it was really fun, and perfect to take to class tomorrow to get people pumped up for our second week of finals. Of course we had to do something dental related, so we decided to modify one of bakerella's cake pop recipes and make....

tooth pops!

Most of them turned out soooo cute...and admittedly a few of them look a little silly.

I will also admit that I sampled one of the less cute ones and they taste just as good as the prettier one I also sampled...just in case anyone was worried. Sometimes you just have to take one for the team.

They were not super easy to make, but it was a lot of fun and I definitely needed the study break.

We followed the directions on bakerella's website to make the cake pops.

First we baked a yellow cake according to the directions on the box and let it cool completely. Then we used a fork to break the cake up and mixed it with a tub of icing.

Next we formed little balls out of the cake and put them in the freezer so that they could harden. At this point we did study, so it wasn't a complete study break.

Next we shaped them to make them look more like teeth and glued popsicle sticks in them using melted chocolate candy melts.

We had some supervision during the whole process, which was good because the hardest part was dipping them in the melted candy coating and getting it to look smooth and even.

Once they set, Destiny painted on the smiles while I painted on the central groove anatomy.

I think they turned out pretty darn cute!

but then again, I am a sucker for nice teeth.

Better Days

Well I'm halfway through finals weeks. 6 more tests to go and I've just got to keep going, keep studying, keep trying my best. It's tough, but it's worth it. It's funny how school can wear me down, but I still love it. The bottom line is professional school is hard, but it's also worth it. I've been thinking about adding a little segment every once in a while about what I'm learning. It'll help me to remember it to write it down, and maybe someone else can learn a little something that will help them and their teeth or their kids teeth...or their dogs teeth.

Well today has mostly been spent studying, but I did spend some of it looking through pictures. I came across some I took over spring break of Korey's grandparents. They are the most wonderful people and I love them. I hope and pray that my children will have the opportunity to know them.

Papa is Korey's best friend.

He was even the best man at our wedding.

He is such a sweet man.

Granny is a pretty wonderful lady herself.

I just wish I had gotten the memo to wear pink.

Winn took me flying!

One of Korey and my friends, Winn, flies airplanes. Korey was learning to fly for a while before we moved and I'm sure he'll pick it up again when we move back. Well I asked Winn if he would take me flying for my birthday and this is the first weekend we've been home all semester, so as a final hoorah to spring break, Winn took me flying!

Now here are some good looking guys and I was lucky enough to fly with them.

At one point, Winn even let me fly a little. I was so nervous, but Winn is an amazing pilot and has been flying since he was a teenager, so I felt extremely safe having him as my copilot.

It was so beautiful up there.

Especially over the lake.

We even did a flyby of our friends Greg and Shane's ropes course that they built for a water park.

It was so neat. I would love to get my pilot's license someday.

Ashley's Bridal Shower and the rest of spring break

I promised you an update about Ashley's Bridal Shower and if I don't do it now, I won't do it because finals weeks are about to swallow me up. (yes weeks, there are two of them for me. 30 hours of classes will do that to you. Hateful isn't it?)

I had a lot of fun planning and making stuff for Ashley's shower. She was beautiful and everything turned out so well! except for that cake I tried to make another i am baker cake. It tasted delicious, but after making it I realized that I needed to carve it completely differently.

Isn't it awesome?! Well it's obviously the one she made...mine looked all wonky and I didn't get a picture of it, but it tasted awesome so it's a shame my artistry skills did not come through for me this time. Maybe if I had used some dental tools to carve it out. I have had an extreme amount of practice with those this year. Here is the link to the instructions in case you would like to give it a try. I had the great idea to use funfetti cake instead of white cake and strawberry cake to make the heart. It looked really neat, it just didn't look like a heart.

I made a few pom poms including the one above the table with these instructions from Martha Stewart. Martha really knows her stuff. These were so easy to make and they were so pretty.

I made this banner too. It turned out cute, even though it needs more color in my opinion. I bought cards with a decorative cut edge and glued glittery blue letters on them and then just strung them up on some glittery polka dot ribbon. I bought the rose garlands at Party City.

At this point my friend Correen spilled a glass of water and I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures of her. If you want to see the pictures I took, she blogged about it on her website. I love her dearly but I thought it was so funny. Karma got me though and the next few pictures have a spot where my filter got dirty. Next time I guess I should take a picture AFTER I help her clean up.

My cousin, Brooke, her mom/my aunt Cindy, aunt Claudia, and aunt Sheron!

This is Correen with Lyric, the smallest of her 6 children. (3 are stepsons) Lyric was a doll and I was so glad I got to spend some time with her and Correen.

Kelley, also one of my very best friends, came too but I didn't get to take a picture of her. I was so happy that I was able to see her too! She is a fellow bridesmaid and such an encouragement to me.

This strawberry cake was amazing! Dianne, the receptionist at my dad's office, made it herself. It was as tasty as it looks!

My mom's favourite sisters!

We had so much fun! I told Ashley that it was tradition to break every ribbon on every gift, so I'm looking forward to seeing all my nieces and nephews in a few years! As you can see from all of the gifts, many more people came than I took pictures of and I was so thankful to get to see every one of them. I wish I had taken more pictures of people but I was too busy socializing. It is quite an art to balance taking pictures of all the action and still being a part of everything that is happening.

That night, Korey took me to see David Gray in concert in Atlanta. It was amazing! He sounds just like his CDs. I can't wait until he comes back so I can see him again!

Spring Break so far

I cannot believe that it has been a week since I have been in school. I do so love being home. Every morning I wake up feeling like I must've slept in until 10 or 11 and then I see the clock and say "Is it really only 7:30?!" I am such a morning person when I've gotten some rest. The only thing that could make it better would be a porch and some hot tea. Korey is a morning person too and I love that about him. We just hang out together in the mornings, which is a good thing because we've both been busy this week.

My sister is getting married in less than two months, most of which I will either be in the torment of my 11 finals (not an exaggeration. There are literally 11 finals. O. M. G.) or I will be out of the country. I'm getting really excited about the mission trip to Peru and a little nervous about it too. Support has been coming in but I haven't raised the amount I need to and I'm struggling with ideas as to how to come up with the rest of the money. I'm trusting God to provide for me and I'm so thankful for those that have sent money to support me already.

(If you didn't get a support letter, I'm sorry. I sent one to everyone that I had a current address for and I'm just not organized enough to have everyone's. It's a character flaw.)

So what did I do this week so far? I ate a TON of food, and Easter candy. Does Easter candy count as food? I did a lot of planning and crafting for my sister's bridal shower, spent some quality time with friends and family, studied (but only a little) and got to meet some very special baby ducks

And play with some beautiful babies

Well I'm off to bed. My sister's bridal shower is tomorrow and then I'm off with Korey to see David Gray in concert! I am so excited! I will surely update all about it soon! (Soon= probably after my practical on tuesday)

Good night, moon.

Happy, Happy Easter!

So we're home for spring break!

The sun is shining and I am so glad to be back. I miss home a lot when I'm at school, and I can't wait to pack up and move back for good.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to try and bake a cake for Easter. I found a recipe from I am baker and although I am certainly not baker, it didn't turn out too bad.

It's a chocolate/Yellow cake with chocolate icing

And like so many of I am baker's cakes, it has a surprise inside.

I can already think of several things I should have done differently, but I am pretty proud of my little Easter cake. Even if the cross is a little wonky. I am contemplating trying another surprise cake for my sister's bridal shower at the end of the week. I will most certainly get some pictures of her shower and post them.

Happy Easter everyone!
